NSEA Presentation 2013 - Best Practices for Having a Successful Part-Time Job Fair
This program covers all aspects of planning and running a successful part-time job fair. I wanted to make it a “best practices” session so that we could learn from each other about how we manage job fairs. I'll share my history with job fairs at the University of Kansas and what I've learned from my hands-on experiences.
We will discuss what works and what doesn’t work, share creative ideas, and figure out how we can all manage our events with limited time (and people, money and resources) while still meeting our goals and having a great event for students and employers.
Introduction:
I have been working in career services for 26 years, 24 of those years have been at the University of Kansas. All of my experience with managing job fairs and other career fair events has taken place while working at the University Career Center.
I am currently the Associate Director of Career Networks. I focus on planning and running career events, developing relationships with employers and connecting students with opportunities. The primary academic areas we work with in the University Career Center include Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education, Social Welfare and Architecture/Planning and Design.
